Advancing ESG@IE Part 3: The Data - Our ESG Impact Report FY23

We launched our AdvancingESG@IE campaign in March 2022 to identify and improve our impacts on the planet.  Now we are launching our full ESG Impact report with our total, verified carbon footprint data to report on our progress so far and our goals going forwards.

After the initial launch,  we rolled out an internal ESG training course to educate the team on the task ahead and how they could help.  We held workshops with the team to set initial goals and actions that helped us to work out what we needed to measure, how to measure it and quick wins we could implement in year one.

We sought expertise from leading sustainability advisors to make sure we were doing things the right way, that our plan was achievable and transparent.  We also brought in a sustainability manager to push the program forward.  Our ESG impact report is the culmination of the first year of our sustainability program and shows the improvements that have been made.

Since publishing the first iteration of our ESG Impact Report in March 23, we've been busy checking the data we collected in FY23 and have now republished the document with our full carbon footprint data for Scopes 1, 2 and 3, independently verified by Neutral Carbon Zone to comply with
its NCZ Silver certification standard. We've also added in more detail about our goals and objectives for the year ahead along with our planned targets to halve our emissions by 2030 and get to Net zero by 2050.

Our Route to Net ZeroOur Route to Net Zero

This is the first of what will be an annual ESG report, published each Autumn to detail our progress. In being transparent about our journey, we hope to help inspire others to take action towards a more sustainable future.

Our journey to make tangible differences year on year

" We're really proud of the progress we've made on our sustainability journey this year and are confident we can make a real difference to the impact our business has on the planet.  We want not only to make work better but to make the world better too."

Eric Valette, Managing Director, Insightful Environments

From procurement and supply chain sustainability through carbon and energy reduction, waste avoidance and circular design, our ESG plan aims to deliver a series of practical actions across IE that will benefit our customers and help us meet our goals.

We chose to use the three pillars of ESG to report our progress:

  • Environmental - Healthy Planet
  • Social - Healthy People
  • Governance - Healthy Culture

Against all three pillars, we have set out some long-term goals for the next 3-5 years. Our goals are underpinned by our shorter-term objective which we hope to achieve in the next 12-24 months.

We aligned our goals with the SDGs established by the UN in 2015. The SDGs are a blueprint for creating a better and more sustainable future. The 17 goals address the global challenges of political and economic instability, rising inequality, climate change and environmental degradation.

You can learn more about the goals and objectives we've set and the progress we've made in the full report.

By protecting and preserving the planet, advancing the wellbeing of all people, and running our business with integrity, we don’t just help people work better. We help the world be better.

By embarking on this journey, ESG has become a thread that runs through our business.  We are confident we can make a real impact and look forward to sharing more of our journey with you and the opportunities it will provide our projects and clients.
